The United Palace Theatre building was originally the Loew's 175th Street Theatre, the last of the "Wonder Theatres" erected between 1925 and 1930. The United Palace Theatre has been restored to its original splendor and is mindfully maintained. Its architectural style has been classified as a monument to eclectic Orientalia with Moorish-Rococo influence. The interior is ornately decorated with filigreed walls and ceilings, illuminated with directional lighting from within and behind the walls. Many community and professional organizations have rented the building for graduations, concerts, photo shoots, recording sessions, commercials, TV/film shoots and civic events. The stage and sound facilities are some of the finest in New York City. |
